Alan Young

Alan Young, born in Kirkaldy, Fife, Scotland played for Leicester City between 1979 and 1982, after spending a successful spell with Oldham Athletic. As an energetic and passionate forward, ‘Youngy’ was a fan favourite with those at Filbert Street and is now an expert summariser for BBC Radio Leicester. Edgar’s Gift are extremely grateful for Alan’s support.

Charles Dagnall

Charles Edward “Charlie” Dagnall is a former First-class cricketer who played as a right-arm fast-medium bowler for Cumberland, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. After his retirement from cricket, Dagnall attempted a career in American football with the Leicester Falcons, playing at quarterback. He now works as a commentator and pundit for BBC Radio Leicester, in addition to having his own drive time show.


Josh currently plays for Leicestershire County Cricket Club as a top order batsman and occasional off-spin bowler. He won the man of the match award in the 2011 Friends Life T20 cup final.

He made his first team debut in 2007, aged just 17, but gained a regular place in 2008 with a series of impressive scores. This included 148 not out against Middlesex at Lord’s, an innings which made him Leicestershire’s youngest ever centurion.

In July 2012, Josh was named captain of Leicestershire’s limited overs side, and in 2013 he was named vice-captain for Leicester’s County Championship campaign.

He has played for the Dhaka Glkadiators in the Bangladesh Premier Twenty 20 tournament. His father is Russell Cobb who also played County Cricket for Leicestershire.

Josh is a great supporter of the charity and we are so pleased to have him as a Patron.

Peter Vincenti

Peter hails from the Island of Jersey and started his career at St Peter FC. He gained a contract with Millwall and was there from 2007 to 2008. He then joined Stevenage and was part of the side that earned promotion to the Football League during the club’s successful 2009/10 campaign.

He had a brief loan spell at Mansfield before moving to Aldershot in 2011. He then joined Rochdale FC at the start of the 2013/14 season.

scored a 93rd minute winner in the second leg of the FA Trophy semi-final against Ebbsfleet United, as the club booked their place in the final at Wembley Stadium. He subsequently started in the final as Stevenage beat York City 2-0.

Peter became a Patron of the charity in 2013 and we are really grateful for his continued support.


Leicestershire County Cricket Club

The County Cricket Club became Patrons of Edgar’s Gift in the summer of 2013 and have already made some great contributions to help the charity.

The home ground is at Grace Road in Leicester and we are proud to be associated with the club.

Jeff Schlupp

Jeff started supporting the charity during our Cycling the 92 event in 2013 and became Patrons at the end of 2013. Jeff is a full Ghana international and plays his football for Leicester City where he is now a Premier League Champion. He has a great career ahead of him and we are delighted that he is a Patron.

Darren Maddy

Darren Maddy – Is a former Leicestershire, Warwickshire and England  cricketer. Born in 1974, Darren has consistently been one   of the country’s most consistent all-rounders and was the first player to reach 1,000 runs in Twenty20 cricket. Darren is now head of cricket at Solihull School and everyone at Edgar’s Gift thanks Darren for his hard work and patronage.

The Soundhouse

The Soundhouse Music venue in Leicester have been supporters of our charity for a while and are now a valued Patron. They host music gigs for Edgar’s Gift regularly and continue to be a massive help to us.

Jonathan Agnew

Jonathan Agnew – Is a broadcaster for the BBC and is        commonly known in many areas as “The Voice of Cricket”. After having a long and  successful career with both Leicestershire and England, “Aggers” was widely regarded as one of the top pace bowlers of his era and has subsequently used his profile to raise awareness of many charities including Edgar’s Gift.

Leicester Riders Basketball

Leicester Riders Basketball Club became Patrons at the end of 2013 and have given us great support already. We are pleased to be associated with the club and look forward to supporting them in the future too.

Ian Davidson

We met Ian when he was commercial manager at Leicestershire County Cricket Club and he was influential in the club becoming a Patron. Since then Ian has moved to the same position at Leicester Riders Basketball and been a major factor in building our relationship with the club. We are very lucky to know Ian and are so grateful for his fantastic support of Edgar’s Gift

Rupal Rajani

Rupal is an award-winning presenter working for BBC Radio Leicester and is a leading personality within the city and across the region. Having been with the BBC for over 15 years, she is currently the lunchtime show presenter. A programme with a mix of music, competitions and lunchtime guests who will talk about anything and everything. Thank you for all of your support from Edgar’s Gift.

Barry Town United AFC

Barry Town United became our Patron in the summer of 2013 and have our logo on the sleeves of their home and away shirts. We are proud to be associated with this club, who’s supporters have saved them so they can carry on their great history. #CARABARRY

Paul Nixon

Paul Nixon is an English record-holding cricket player who has played for Leicestershire, Kent and England. As a wicket keeper and left handed batsman, Paul helped establish the Foxes in the T20 format and Edgar’s Gift are delighted to have him on board as a patron.

Chris Weale

Chris Weale – born in Somerset is a top quality goalkeeper who played 75 times for Leicester City, after playing over 160 times for Yeovil and having spells at Hereford United, Bristol City and Northampton Town. He is currently at Shrewsbury United and has played 4 times for the England non-league team. Thank you Chris for your continued contributions to the charity!

Finlay James Associates

Finlay James are a leading, true specialist in Technology        Sales Recruitment covering sectors that include Software, Services, Telecommunications,        Networking, Hardware and E-Commerce. The folks at Edgar’s Gift thank Managing Director        Mark Neilan for his support for the charity and its cause.

Trevor Peake

Trevor Peake – Is a retired footballer        who was part of the FA Cup winning team with Coventry City in 1987. Trevor also        played for Nuneaton, Lincoln and Luton and is now still very active in the game        having played in the Legends match for Edgar’s Gift as well as being part of the        academy staff Leicester City FC.

Jim Allenby

Jim is an Australian cricketer, a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler.

Has played first-class cricket for Leicestershire, Western Australia and currently plays for Glamorgan. Made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2005 and was a regular in the Leicestershire side which won the Twenty20 Cup, scoring 64 and taking two wickets in the final against Nottinghamshire.

Jim has and continues to support the charity, we are very grateful for his help.


George William Taft (born 29 July 1993, Leicester) is a professional footballer who currently plays for Burton Albion in Division 2 of the Football League.

He started his career at Leicester City and has had loan spells at Kettering Town, Karlstad BK (Sweden) and York City. George made 1 appearance for the England U18 side scoring a goal and was also a member of the England squad for the U20 World Cup in 2011.

We are delighted to have George as a Patron of Edgar’s Gift.

Benjamin Alexander Raine (born 14 September 1991, Sunderland County Durham) is a professional cricketer currently playing for Leicestershire. A Left-handed batsman and right-arm medium fast bowler. Ben made his First Class debut for Durham v Sri Lanka A at Chester-le-Street, Jul 27-29, 2011. His highest first class score to date is 72 and bowling  is 4/98.

We first met Ben at a Leicester Riders game and delighted that he has agreed to be a Patron of Edgar’s Gift, we are really grateful for his support.

Willie Thorne

Willie is a former professional Snooker player who graced the baize from 1975 to 2002. Known as Mr Maximum for his 147 clearances, he is now a skilled speaker and snooker commentator.

We are very lucky to have Willie as a Patron and it was mainly due to his efforts that we raised over £4500 at our Cycling the 92 cancer charity dinner/auction in May 2014. He is a great supporter of our charity and a very generous person.


Ed Melia – Photographer

Ed is a highly talented Leicester photographer. He does  a lot of photos for Leicestershire County Cricket Club as well as some fantastic nature pictures. Take a look at his website when you get the chance

His motto is ‘Making a split-second last forever’ and we are delighted that he agreed to become one of our Patrons.



Friend of the charity Adam Cooper introduced us to the football club and they were happy to become a Patron. Since then they have supported us in various ways including holding quizzes and selling raffle tickets. We look forward to a long friendship with this great local Leicestershire club.

Andy Jaye

We are delighted to welcome Andy as a Patron of Edgar’s Gift.

During his career Andy has filmed around the world hosting a variety of sport, music, property, travel, adventure, kids, and entertainment shows for a number of leading broadcasters including ITV, Sky Sports, C4 and ESPN.

Andy currently fronts the coverage of British GT and British F3 for Channel 4 and BT Sport. In addition he also hosts the live Speedway GP and World Cup fixtures on British Eurosport.

National White Collar Boxing

We are delighted that National White Collar Boxing have agreed to become Patrons of Edgar’s Gift.

The Boxing Event organisers Rendall Munroe and Jarrod Baxter set up these events every few months in Leicester so that men and women can experience 8 weeks training culminating in a 3 round bout with an evenly matched opponent. It’s a great night out for everyone concerned and in the 1st 2 of these events NWCB and the Fighters have raised close to £2000 for Edgar’s Gift.

Looking forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with this great group of people.

Dreaming In Colour Productions

We first met Elisabeth who runs DICP early in 2015 when we were looking at expanding Edgarfest into a multi venue event. The event happened on 28th November 2015 and was a great success. We are really pleased that they are now a Patron of Edgar’s Gift and look forward to working together more in the future.



One of our earliest Patrons, has done some great cupcakes to raise funds for the charity. Also, introduced us to The Soundhouse who became Patrons too, so a great supporter of what we do.’s_Cupcakery

Rendall Munroe

Rendall Munroe (born 1 June 1980 in Leicester, England) is an English super bantamweight boxer. Munroe currently resides in Leicester and was the WBA International Super Bantamweight champion. He is also a former holder of the EBU and Commonwealth Super Bantamweight titles. His dayjob as a binman is well publicised as his nickname is ‘The Boxing Binman’.

He is a Patron of Edgar’s Gift through his and Jarrod Baxter’s National White Collar Boxing organisation. They are all great supporters of our charity and we are really grateful for their awesome support.

Nuneaton Town FC

We are delighted that one of our local clubs Nuneaton Town (The Boro) have agreed to become Patrons of the charity. Looking forward to a mutually beneficial partnership together.


We are delighted that Garden Glastonbury and it’s organisers David and Lindsey Oliver have agreed to become Patrons of the charity. They put in an amazing amount of work and also help us with Edgarfest..We are lucky to have their support

Stewart the 100 Mile Man

Stewart has been a supporter of Edgar’s Gift for quite a while. He has already raised money for us and regularly promotes our tweets on Twitter. So, we were delighted when he excepted our request for him to become a Patron. We look forward to working with him in the future and really appreciate his support of Edgar’s Gift.


We were delighted when Joe agreed to become a Patron of Edgar’s Gift, it has also kept our important relationship with Rochdale FC. Joe has experienced cancer himself so really appreciates what the young people we support are going through. We are Looking forward to a long relationship with Joe.


It’s great to have Ady as a Patron of our charity. He’s a Presenter at BBC Leicester and is an Honorary ambassador of Rainbows Hospice. Ady is also a skilled Landscaper & Horticulturist. We look forward to working with him going forward and raising the profile of the charity.


We are really pleased that our local cricket club have agreed to become Patrons of the charity. Looking forward to supporting each other going forward.

Aadil Ali

Really pleased to have Aadil as a Patron of the charity. A local Leicester lad, he made his debut for Leicestershire CCC in 2015 v the New Zealanders and is now in his 5th season at the club.  

Aadil has already helped the charity and we are looking forward to working more with him in the future.

Rochdale Football Club

We were delighted that Rochdale FC have decided to become a Patron of Edgar’s Gift.

Our relationship with the club started in 2014 when Pete Vincenti became a Patron. When Pete moved on, Joe Thompson agreed to be a Patron also which was brilliant for us

Now the club are Patrons and we look forward to working with them in the future.
